Welcome to Baja Kayak Adventures! You might have some questions about the kayaking experience. That’s why we put together some of the FAQ to help to you to feel more comfortable about getting into the water with us.

  • Do I need prior experience to join a kayaking tour?
    No prior experience is necessary for most beginner tours. The guides will provide basic instructions and safety tips before you start.

  • What should I wear on a kayaking tour?
    Wear quick-drying, moisture-wicking clothes, and avoid cotton. Opt for water shoes or sandals with good grip. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection.

  • What should I bring with me?
    Essentials include water, snacks, sunscreen, a waterproof bag for personal items, sunglasses, hat, towel and shoes.

  • Can I go kayaking if I can’t swim?
    Yes, but you must wear a life jacket (provided by the tour operator) at all times. Inform your guide so they can offer additional support if needed.

  • Do I have to paddle the whole time?
    Not necessarily. Many tours include rest breaks for sightseeing, swimming, or snacks. Guides adjust the pace to suit the group.

  • Are tandem kayaks available?
    No, we do not have tandem kayaks at this moment.

  • Is kayaking safe?
    Yes, kayaking is generally safe, especially when done with a licensed tour operator as our staff. Guides provide safety instructions and monitor conditions throughout the tour. All of our staff counts with first aid certification and they carry a first aid kit.

  • What if I tip over?
    Guides will assist you in getting back into the kayak. Tipping over is uncommon in calm waters but can happen.

  • What’s the weight limit for the kayaks?
    The weight limit for the kayaks we use is 209 lbs (95 kgs).

  • Will I get wet?
    Yes, you will likely get splashed, so wear water-friendly clothing.

  • Are life jackets provided?
    Yes, life jackets are included in the tour package and are mandatory to wear during the tour.

  • Can I bring my phone or camera?
    Yes, but it’s best to store them in a waterproof case or dry bag to protect them from water.

  • Is tipping the guide customary?
    Yes, tipping is appreciated if you enjoyed the experience. A typical range is 10-20% of the tour cost.
